A true roof: foam-core insulated panels, finished underside, full weather seal. The sun stops at the deck. The room stays usable at two in the afternoon.
Los Angeles light is a gift until it is a problem. An insulated cover is how you make a west patio habitable in August without living under a dark cave. The panel has a real R-value. Radiant heat does not come through the roof.
We build these as architecture, not as a kit dropped on four posts. Ledger or freestanding. Gutter that actually drains. Optional fans, recessed light, and a finished ceiling so the underside is a room, not a warehouse.
